D.J.A. Sponsors College Workshop for Charity
HARTFORD, Conn. -- D.J.A. Imports, Ltd. hosted an interactive workshop for studio arts and engineering students at Trinity College today. Undergraduates assisted Vice President Giuseppe Pietrocola as he designed, forged and constructed a decorative steel wine rack to be raffled off for charity.
The event was spearheaded by a group of engineering majors trying to bridge the technical gap between the engineering field and the mainstream. The purpose of the workshop, according to the members, was to highlight the important fusion of art and engineering design in practical applications.
The students will spend the next two weeks selling raffle tickets to the college community and hope to raise at least $200.
On the week before Thanksgiving, tickets buyers will gather to raffle off the artistic piece and all proceeds will be handed to a student-run Thanksgiving food basket drive. The program provides a Thanksgiving dinner with turkey and all the trimmings to local families.
